Attendance remains one of the most pressing challenges for trusts and schools, with wide-ranging implications for pupil learning, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes. In this exclusive Members’ Breakfast Briefing, ImpactEd Group will share the latest findings from Understanding Attendance, a major national research project drawing on data from over 30,000 pupils who took part in the Summer Term.
This session will explore the key factors shaping attendance across a range of different pupil groups, including:
- The varying impact of adult and peer relationships on engagement
- The role of family and the home environment in supporting attendance
- How belonging and wellbeing influence pupil presence in school
- Where incentives for attendance prove most effective
We will also explore how trusts and schools have used these insights to tailor and target their response to absence more effectively, with a focus on practical approaches that can make the greatest difference.
Alongside the latest national insights, there will be the opportunity to learn more about joining the next research cohort, helping to further explore the barriers and enablers of attendance in a variety of settings.
The session will be led by Alice Gregson, CEO, Forum Strategy and Lucy Preston, Associate Director for School Research Partnerships, ImpactEd Group.
