From our national networks for CEOs and COOs, to our acclaimed annual national #TrustLeaders conference, we bring together leading thinkers and professionals from across the system to deliver training and development of the highest quality. Our work is informed by careful analysis of strategic leadership and policy issues of the moment, and underpinned with clear reference to best practice, research, and thought-leadership.

#TrustLeaders CEO Network

What is the #TrustLeaders network?
Forum’s CEO network has now been running for over three years, and has grown to become the leading network of academy trust CEOs in the country. We are also now broadening our reach to welcome CEOs charities, third sector and other organisations. The network is led by Michael Pain, author of ‘Being The CEO’ and an experienced coach, adviser and trainer to CEOs. Our national #TrustLeaders events have attracted contributions from a former Prime Minister, to international academics and thinkers on executive leadership, and leading CEOs from across a wide range of sectors – including health, charities, and business. The network is independent and committed to the very highest standards of cross-sector, peer to peer learning for CEOs.

Membership of #TrustLeaders includes:

    • Termly online events, and two face to face events per year* subject to COVID19 restrictions. In the event of COVID19 restrictions all events will take place online.; CEOs can bring one guest to each session; The two face to face events includes our annual national conference and the national #TrustLeaders symposium (for all those with active membership on 8th June 2022), see below.
    • The National #TrustLeaders Conference (for those whose annual membership runs from before 29th September 2021, this is the 2021 conference on 29th September; for those whose membership runs from after 29th September 2021, this is the 2022 conference which is due to take place on 22nd September 2022);
    • Access to our half-termly online Members’ Breakfast briefing;
    • Access to the members’ section of the Forum Strategy website, containing dozens of resources – including videos, thinkpieces, and articles – for CEOs and executive leaders in the education sector
    • A half-termly online briefing on key strategic developments for Chairs of Trusts. The attending Chair must have a CEO and/or COO who is a member of the respective network in order to attend;
    • A complimentary (as of September 2021) individual subscription to our weekly strategy and intelligence email briefing and our fortnightly funding and grants briefings. Please note that briefings are strictly for the individual recipient only and are usually sent during ‘term time’ only.
    • Exclusive opportunity for #TrustLeaders members only to access our consultancy expertise for trust board visioning and strategy days; board development training; and executive coaching offers. Please note this provision is subject to availability and is not included in the price of membership, but subject to separate pricing. This specific consultancy offer is not available to non-members.

#TrustLeaders COO Network

Following a successful pilot of the COO Network in 2020, the National #TrustLeaders COO Network has gone from strength to strength in 2021, with growing numbers of academy trust COOs joining us from across the country. The network has benefited from Chief Operating Officers from business, the health service, sport, and wider education sharing their wisdom and advice – as well as other though-leaders and experts sharing trends and insights from across key operational disciplines. 

Membership is for individuals who are acting COOs or equivalent; and we are now inviting applications for membership for a twelve month period. If you are currently a member, renewal information will be sent to you at the end of your current membership.

Membership includes:

    • 6 half day sessions with relevant speakers from a wide range of sectors, focusing on strategic issues ranging from HR and technology to recruitment and sustainability. 
    • One of the above six sessions is the national #TrustLeaders symposium taking place on 8th June in Nottingham. 
    • Access to the members’ section of the Forum Strategy website, containing dozens of resources for CEOs and executive leaders;
    • Access to our half-termly online Members’ Breakfast briefing;
    • Access to to the CEOs’/ COOs’ Chairs of Trustees to our half-termly online Chairs seminars;
    • A complimentary (as of September 2021) individual subscription to our weekly strategy and intelligence email briefing and our fortnightly funding and grants briefings. Please note that briefings are strictly for the individual recipient only and are usually sent during ‘term time’ only.
