National #TrustLeaders Symposium 2023 Wrigleys’ Reflection

Partner Refelctions

Forum Strategy’s National #TrustLeaders Symposium, held in Nottingham on Thursday 15th June, not only came at the right time but also provided the message of hope we needed to hear: that, despite the challenges the country faces, we have overcome apparently insurmountable challenges before, and trust leaders can be the change we want to see in future. The day was led superbly by Maggie Farrer, with wisdom and insight from Alice Gregson, Sir Steve Lancashire and James Plunkett, and gave trust leaders time and space to consider what it means to have agency, work ethically and re-think their organisation.

Importantly, trust leaders were guided on how they and their trusts can be the change by: unifying around common values of equality, equity and social justice; harnessing their collective power to champion these values; holding others and each other to account; and being clear on their own moral intent and principles, what they will and won’t do. These factors inevitably need to be reflected in a trust’s vision, values and ethos, its strategic plan and ultimately how it is governed.

This is where Wrigleys can help. We provide a governance review service which assesses and reports on your governance effectiveness and compliance and makes recommendations where action is needed. Further information is available here. We also provide strategic and day-to-day advice including with equality, diversity and inclusion, HR/employment, safeguarding, admissions and the required policies and procedures. Please do get in touch via graham.shaw@wrigleys.co.uk, 0113 204 1138 or 07955 855 314.

At Wrigleys, we are committed to the sector and to helping trust leaders do their very best for the children and communities they serve. We look forward to supporting trust leaders as they continue their important work as change agents for the sector and for society more widely.
