#TrustLeaders Autumn Roundtables: Going beyond the core curriculum: aspiration and enrichment

November 18 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

The world is changing rapidly around us, and the lives of the children and young people we serve will be influenced and shaped by it. It is clear that enabling pupils to be masters of technology, to unleash their innate curiosity and creativity, to make choices that support their own health and wellbeing, and much more beyond this are all going to be crucial to the next generation – underpinned by the highest standards of literacy and numeracy.

Whilst a new national curriculum will set standards and ensure the foundations are in place, it will only be through the innovation and design of trust and school leaders themselves that we will realise the full potential of the learning experience and help to ensure our young people today are equipped for the world ahead.

This roundtable – led by Alice Gregson and Baroness Estelle Morris – will look at how trust leaders are innovating and adapting to prepare this generation of pupils, to be healthy and thriving citizens and community members – living fulfilling lives. It will consider the vision trusts are shaping, the nature of the collaboration and partnership required, and how trusts can learn from one another and wider sectors in achieving their ambitions for young people. The session will include thoughtful inputs at the start of the session from Katrina Morley, CEO of Tees Valley Education Trust and Matthew Lees, Director of East Learning and lead into the following discussion questions:

– What does this generation of pupils need most from their experience in school (the curriculum and beyond it), to ensure they are ready and prepared to seize the opportunities ahead of them? How are trusts delivering this currently?
– What does impactful partnership with other organisations and sectors look like within this? How is this best forged and sustained?
– How can trusts better share and disseminate impactful practice, and where can government and other organisations support this?

This event will take place at 9.30am – 1.30pm (including lunch) on 18th November 2025 at Hotel du Vin in Birmingham. Places will be limited to 20 per event and will be provided on a first come – first served basis. Please email us at admin@forumstrategy.org to book your place.
