Our second annual #TrustLeaders COO conference will take place on October 3rd at Trent Vineyard Conference Centre, Nottingham. The day will be led and facilitated by leading strategic thinker, Christian Stadler; author of the book ‘Open Strategy: Mastering disruption from outside the C-Suite’ and Professor of Strategic Management at Warwick Business School, alongside Alice Gregson, CEO of Forum Strategy.

The day will include two core elements. Firstly, reflection on and discussion around our current context (including a new government and the opportunities and challenges associated with that for trust leaders), this will be led by our CEO, Alice Gregson. Secondly, we will take time to consider what successful operational leadership looks like during changing and challenging times; exploring key areas of strategic leadership that are important to the success of a thriving trust and critically, areas that will likely experience change and evolution over the months and years ahead.

Our conference reflects the vital role of operations in keeping organisations focused and stable, having an eye to the horizon for upcoming trends and development and working closely with the CEO to ensure organisational strategy reflects the reality within which the trust operates. We will spend time identifying, reflecting on and planning ahead for significant areas of oversight for COOs (including staff recruitment and retention, environmental sustainability and estates, finances, AI and technology, growth and more), including time to connect with and learn from one another across our national network.

Over the course of the day, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from Christian’s extensive experience as a strategist and leading thinker in organisational success and development.  As a regular writer and commentator on strategy and the need to adapt to an ever evolving world, Christian has been a regular on channels such as the BBC and CNN and has written for Forbes, The New York Times, Harvard Business Review and others. In 2013 he was announced as one of Thinkers50 top 50 future thinkers and was shortlisted for their strategy award in 2021. Alongside Alice, Christian will facilitate the day to include cross-sector learning but with a specific focus on the education context, with plenty of time for networking and trust to trust sharing.

This is set to be a uniquely enriching day of learning, networking and collaboration for COOs (or those in equivalent roles), facilitated by an experienced strategic thinker.
