Members’ Breakfast Briefing: Exploring emerging research and practice for trust leaders on effective trust wide attendance strategy

29 February 2024 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am

We know that attendance, and particularly persistent absence, continues to be a challenge for many school and trust leaders, so what can we learn from the latest research and insights into the causes, and importantly, the potential strategies to help in addressing these issues? And alongside this, what are other trusts doing in this area that is starting to show impact?

Our breakfast briefing for members will headline some of the latest research and thinking in this area and share emerging practice from work with trusts. We will be joined by Owen Carter, Co-founder & Managing Director of ImpactEd and Claire Maclean, CEO of Tudor Grange Academies Trust and Sam Roach, Executive Principal at Tudor Grange.

Owen will outline the key findings of their recently published national research ‘Understanding Attendance‘, putting this into context for trust leaders and discussing what this might mean for trust strategy when seeking to address issues trust-wide. Claire and Sam will then share the range of work they have been taking forward across Tudor Grange to increase attendance and to address issues, particularly around persistent absence. Claire will touch on her role specifically as CEO in overseeing this work and Sam in her role as Executive Principal, outlining how this has been implemented in practice. As always, we will also allow time for discussions across the network throughout the session.

To book onto this event, you will need to be a member of one of our three national networks (CEO, COO or Education Executives). Please use the form below to book your place:
