It is crucial that Chairs of Trustees continue to access the latest insights, developments and updates from across the system – and invest time in their own ongoing professional development and we want to support this at Forum Strategy. All Chairs of Trustees whose CEO, COO and/or Education Leader is a member of Forum Strategy are entitled to attend our termly complimentary seminars for Chairs.
This term’s event will be led by Emma Knights OBE, Forum Strategy Associate and the former CEO of the National Governance Association. As chief executive of the NGA from 2010 to 2024, Emma was responsible for growing its services and the understanding of school and trust governance. She had the privilege of representing the voices of school governors and academy trustees across England. Before NGA, Emma worked in third sector organisations, always aiming to support people with disadvantaged backgrounds with advocacy, access to civil rights and entitlements, tackling child poverty or encouraging early education.
In this session, Emma will explore trustee and governor recruitment and retention. As the challenges around the recruitment and retention of high quality trustees and governors grows, Emma will share (alongside Forum Strategy’s CEO, Alice Gregson) what we are learning about what works well in this space and within this, how we can better recruit diverse individuals with the range of experience and perspectives we need. The seminar will draw on Forum Strategy’s work around the principles underpinning thriving trusts (and within this, effective recruitment and retention).
This is an opportunity for Chairs to reflect on the evolving nature of governance across trusts and to share their perspectives with other Chairs from across the country. To access this online event, your Chair can use the following booking form below:
