At Forum Strategy, we have long advocated for a narrative that sees trusts as being at the very heart of communities, acting as a vital, constant source of support, hope and leadership, particularly though the most challenging of times. Below, Sam Vickers, CEO of Batley Multi-Academy Trust, outlines how they have worked closely with local communities across West Yorkshire to bring people together towards a common purpose, ensuring the trust is held accountable to those who matter the most.

At Batley Multi-Academy Trust we firmly believe that every young person deserves a first class education coupled with high-quality care, guidance and support, regardless of their background or starting point. Our schools sit at the very heart of our community, all geographically linked, each being a mere 5 minute drive from the other. Our family of schools covers the full age range from 2 year old provision through to post 16, plus our brilliant Yorkshire Rose Teaching Partnership which provides excellent ITT, ECT and NPQ training, as well as leadership training programmes for our associate staff. Our trust vision and values are shared across our family of schools, and we believe a great trust is based on collaboration for collective efficacy. At the same time, each of our schools is unique, and has its own individual specialism and expertise (so they are like siblings in a family, rather than clones).

Our guiding principles are:

  • Our children deserve the best
  • No child left behind-ever
  • Every school a great school
  • Creating remarkable people
