Members’ Breakfast Briefing: Developing an effective trust-wide behaviour strategy and approach

June 11 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Pupil behaviour remains a key priority for schools and trusts across the country, with many leaders seeking sustainable, long-term approaches to support positive, engaging learning environments. In this session, developed specifically for trust leaders, we will explore what an effective trust-wide behaviour strategy looks like and hear practical examples of what is working well from trusts across the country.

Recent reports and national data point to a growing issue across schools in terms of managing behaviour and ensuring that classrooms remain safe, positive environments for children to learn within and for teachers to work within. We know there are a multitude of complex factors contributing to these trends and that it’s more important than ever that we share learning about what is working well across different contexts.

Join us for this session specifically focused on developing a trust-wide strategy and approach to behaviour, within which we will explore the role of trust leaders in ensuring it’s effectiveness. We will have two excellent guest contributors to our session. Sam Strickland, CEO of  Luminara Education Trust and Principal of The Duston School, a large all-through school based in Northamptonshire. Sam has written and presented extensively on pupil behaviour, authoring several books including ‘They Don’t Behave for Me’ and ‘The Behaviour Manual: An Educator’s Guidebook’ among others. Maureen Smyth, also joins us and was, until very recently, School Partnership Lead in the recent DfE Behaviour Hubs programme, supporting lead special, secondary/AP schools and trusts. Prior to this, Maureen has extensive experience in education, including 30+ years’ experience in SEMH, serving within this as a deputy head and head of school at New Rush Hall School, which became a trailblazer Specialist School. She has also produced new thinking and worked closely with various experts in the field around behaviour, SEND and social, emotional and mental health related issues.

To join this session, you must be an individual member of one of our three national networks (CEO, COO or Education Leader). Please use our form below to book your place.
