Members’ Briefing: Where are some trusts tending to get it wrong in terms of compliance? What can we do to ensure we’re all on track as leaders and organisations?

30 November 2023 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Getting compliance right matters. It is essential to ensuring a successful foundation for our work as trust leaders, and for the sustainability and reputation of our organisations. And, whilst so many trusts are doing well in terms of discharging their responsibilities, it’s always important to be mindful and aware of where things can commonly go wrong and how we can anticipate and make doubly sure we’re not falling into the same trap.

In this special briefing for members, we will be joined by Graham Shaw from Wrigleys Solicitors who will highlight recent ESFA national reports and findings of most significance for trust leaders, and share some recommendations on how these findings can help to improve or reinforce trust compliance and governance in particular. The session will cover:

– Some short background to the ESFA’s 2022 to 2023 assurance programme and it’s relevance for trust leaders and Boards
– Key findings and trends from the work and the implications for trust leaders and Boards
– Next steps for trust leaders following on from this, including where to access support if needed

This session provides an excellent opportunity to learn from the national picture in key areas of trust compliance and governance and to ensure that as trust leaders, you are providing yourself with another opportunity to ensure things are on track and some of the key risks around compliance are mitigated.
