SUMMARY:Members' Breakfast Briefing: How trust leaders in all contexts can further support pupils with SEND
DESCRIPTION:We know that the levels of support needed for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities’ (SEND) is growing across all contexts in education but what does national research show as the main approaches being taken across trusts\, how are trusts dealing with the acute challenges being faced across the system and what can you as trust leaders learn from this to take back to your own contexts? \nThis breakfast briefing for all Forum Strategy members focuses on a brand new report from the National Foundation for Education Research (NFER) to be published in mid-April and offers an opportunity for trust leaders in all contexts to reflect on the research findings and share advice and practice with each other. \nWe will be joined by NFER Senior Research Manager Matt Walker\, as he takes us through the key findings from a qualitative research project exploring how trusts are supporting pupils with SEND. The research draws on 49 interviews with MAT CEOs\, MAT SEND Leaders and school SENCOs from across 19 different MATs. The findings will explore the different approaches being used by trusts to support SEND\, the main challenges they are experiencing and how they are being addressed\, and how trusts with specialist provision are drawing on this to support their mainstream schools. This will be a great opportunity to dig into the research in further detail and for you to ask questions and/or add reflections related to your own experiences as trust leaders. \nForum Strategy Associate Natalie Packer (SEND specialist and author of the books ‘The Perfect SENCO’ & ‘The Teachers Guide TO SEND’) also joins us to add her perspectives from many years of work in SEND & AP across the sector\, including trust-wide SEND reviews and work with trusts on SEND strategy. \nTo book onto this event\, please use the form below. Please note you must be an active members of our CEO\, COO or Education Executives networks to attend. \nBooking Form
