SUMMARY:Members' Breakfast Briefing: How trust leaders can address the challenge of falling pupil numbers
DESCRIPTION:Falling pupil numbers are emerging as a significant pressing strategic challenge facing the education sector\, with wide-reaching implications for school and trust sustainability\, resource planning\, and long-term growth. In this session\, developed specifically for trust leaders\, we will explore how trusts can respond proactively and strategically to this trend – drawing on both national evidence and lived experience in the sector. \nDemographic shifts\, changing parental preferences\, and localised population decline are all contributing to reductions in school-age cohorts in some areas. For trusts\, the impact is not only financial but also strategic – shaping decisions about expansion\, school improvement\, and community engagement. Understanding the data and identifying the right levers for action is essential for leaders navigating this complex issue. \nJoin us for this session focused on developing trust-wide approaches to pupil place planning and strategic sustainability in light of falling rolls. We are delighted to be joined by two expert contributors: Michael Scott\, Senior Economist at the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER)\, whose recent research explores the scale and future implications of demographic change for the sector; and Catherine Lester\, Executive Director (Growth and Development) for LEO Academy Trust\, who will share practical insights from a primary academy trust on how they are responding to these challenges through innovation\, collaboration\, and long-term strategic planning. \nThis event is open exclusively to individual members of one of our three national networks (CEO\, COO or Education Leaders). Please use the form below to book your place. \nBooking Form
